New Ford F-150
The Ford F-150 is a pickup truck for any driver. The full-sized truck comes in a wide range of trim levels, and each one has useful features and equipment. For the new model year, a new Rattler trim joins the lineup. It's based on the XL XF4 but with some added off-road equipment. Here's a closer look at what you can get with the Ford F-150.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level F-150 XL comes with 17-inch steel wheels, automatic high-beam headlights, and rear windows with solar tint glass. A step up to the XLT adds 17-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, and a power-locking tailgate, while another bump to the LARIAT adds 18-inch alloy wheels and LED fog lights. Choose the King Ranch for 20-inch wheels and LED projector headlights that offer dynamic bending or the Platinum to add 20-inch polished aluminum wheels and power-deployable running boards.
The high-end Limited comes with 22-inch alloy wheels, a two-panel moonroof, and a power up-and-down tailgate with a tailgate step. You can also get the F-150 Tremor, Raptor, or Raptor R for added off-road features.
Engine (Power)
The engine lineup starts with a 3.3-liter V-6 with 290 horsepower. You can get the F-150 with a 2.7-liter turbo V-6 that puts out 325 horsepower or a 5-liter V-8 that generates 400 horsepower. A 3.5-liter turbo V-6 is also available and gets you 400 horsepower. The Raptor has a 3.5-liter turbo V-6 that churns out 450 horsepower, and the Raptor R has a supercharged V-8 with 700 horsepower. You can also get the F-150 with a hybrid powertrain that generates 430 horsepower.
Performance
Rear and four-wheel drive are available with any of the F-150's engines, and no matter which one you choose, it will work with Ford's 10-speed automatic transmission. This transmission has optimized gear spacing and three overdrive gears to help make the most of any engine's power. The ride will stay comfortable over most roads, and the truck is easy to handle. Its max towing power is 14,000 pounds with the twin-turbo V-6.
Interior
There's room for up to six in the larger F-150 cabs. The XL has the basics, while the XLT has cloth upholstery and power door locks. The LARIAT and above have leather upholstery, and these come with power-adjustable front seats, heated and ventilated front seats, and power-adjustable pedals.
You'll get all the tech you need in the F-150. Every model has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and starting with the LARIAT, there's a 12-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. The King Ranch adds wireless charging and the Limited upgrades to an 18-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo. The Limited also comes with Ford's Pro Power Onboard.
Safety Features
Every new Ford F-150 has advanced safety systems. An SOS post-crash alert and rear view camera come standard. Moving up to higher trims adds more safety tech. You can get a forward collision warning system, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, and rear automatic braking. Upper trims also have adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and a 360-degree surround-view camera.
