2025 Ford Explorer

The Ford Explorer is available in eight trims: Base, XLT, ST-Line, Timberland, Limited, ST, King Ranch, and Platinum. On the Base, you get a power liftgate, LED headlights, and 18-inch wheels. The XLT gets you roof rails and heated outside mirrors. Moving up to the ST-Line adds power-folding outside mirrors, dark-tinted headlights and taillights, a black grille and exterior trim, rain-sensing wipers, and 20-inch wheels. For the Timberline, you'll find front tow hooks, trailer towing equipment, unique front styling, underbody skid plates, and 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires for better off-road performance. The Limited adds chrome exterior trim, a hands-free power liftgate, and 20-inch wheels with a bright finish. You get quad exhaust outlets on the ST for a unique appearance, while the King Ranch gets you exterior approach lighting. Upgrading to the Platinum gets you a satin aluminum exterior trim guaranteed to turn heads and 21-inch wheels.

Three engines are available for the Ford Explorer. The standard engine is a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder for 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The ST and King Ranch feature a 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 that delivers 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. This engine is also available on the Platinum. The Platinum has a 3.3-liter V-6 hybrid engine that garners 318 horsepower, also available on the Limited.

Performance-enhancing features improve the drive of the Ford Explorer. Drive mode select allows you to customize the ride to fit your mood or conditions. You can choose from Normal, Sport, Eco, Slippery, Trail, Tow/Haul, and Snow/Sand modes. Rear-wheel drive is the standard drivetrain, but you can also get a four-wheel-drive system for better performance over various terrain and conditions. The Timberline has four-wheel drive as a standard feature, adding an off-road suspension, increased ground clearance, and a limited-slip differential, making it more off-road-ready.

The Base features a power-adjustable driver's seat, triple-zone automatic climate control, satellite radio, a six-speaker sound system, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Moving up trims adds features such as heated seats, a heated steering wheel, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, leather upholstery, navigation, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, and a 14-speaker premium Bang & Olufsen stereo.
